The Old Saloon
This isn't just a bar; it is the whole classic cowboy dive bar experience. Old Sal is known for its lively and concert-heavy atmosphere especially during the summer. I was lucky enough to attend some truly awesome summer concerts there, including Mackenzie Carpenter and Midland. Beyond concerts, they also host unique festivals—yes, the famous Testicle Festival! It's the perfect spot to feel like a real Montanan for the night.
Pine Creek Lodge
If you're looking for a laid-back, hippie vibe, you have to check this place out. It’s a great outdoor venue known for hosting live music in a beautiful, relaxed setting. I was able to see The Future Birds there this summer and the combination of great music and the scenic environment is unbeatable. Coming from the big city, it was also really cool to be so up close and personal with the musicians since there are no assigned seats or giant raving crowds. Super fun!
Follow Your Nose BBQ
Everyone who visits Emigrant definitely raves about Follow Your Nose. Located right in Emigrant, this spot is a must-try outdoor restaurant. I can personally talk about the perfect BBQ flavor of their refried beans, pork sandwiches, and tender ribs. It’s the perfect setting for a satisfying night out for dinner with friends or family.
Emigrant Outpost
For a fun and casual evening, Emigrant Outpost is the place to go. Order a gooey, flavorful pizza and enjoy playing a round of volleyball or cornhole on their outdoor patio. As the day winds down, you get to a beautiful sunset view over the surrounding mountains. It is a perfect Montana moment!
Yellowstone River
A summer trip to this area isn't complete without spending time on the Yellowstone River. Whether it’s floating down the water, going fishing, taking a dip, or paddle boarding along the currents, it’s the perfect place to go for a day trip and afternoon adventure. The views as you ride along are absolutely gorgeous and provide an unforgettable perspective of the Montana landscape.
Community Closet
If you are anything like me, you love to scope out the good clothing stores in town. If you are on a budget and have a cute, cozy, and/or unique style, the Community Closet is perfect place for you. This is an unbelievably cheap thrift store where I’ve managed to snag some high-quality pieces that I know will last me forever. If you want a fun, thrifty shopping experience, this is the place to go!
