On Sunday, May 25th, the very popular Old Saloon in Emigrant, Montana, held its 9th annual Testicle Festival. "Testy Fest," as many of the locals call it, hosts live music, brings community together, and most importantly, serves local food, including fried bull testicles (the main attraction of the evening).

For the first time, the festival partnered with the Testicular Cancer Foundation, giving much of the proceeds from the event to support education and awareness for testicular cancer.

People have come from all over the United States to enjoy the uniqueness of Testy Fest.

Born and raised in McCall, Idaho, Maddie Hanson worked at a ranch near Livingston last year. She explained that college courses prevented her from going to Testy Fest last year, so she returned this year to experience the festivities.

“I think people are gathered here to have fun and also support a really good cause,” McCall said, “I think that’s a really beautiful thing and it’s really important.”

While everyone is happy to support an important cause, the live music often serves as a large reason for guests to come to Testy Fest. Talented folk and country singers/musicians come from around the U.S. to perform. This year, Rancho Deluxe, Danno Simpson, and Sterling Drake took to the stage while the crowds danced and cheered.

One attendee, Cole, explained how he was born in Mississippi and moved out to Livingston five years ago to start a music career. He says he enjoys coming to the annual Testy Fest due to its live music and dancing activities.

“This is one of the best big free events of the summer,” Cole said.

Testy Fest continues to be a staple attraction for people living and visiting Montana and now supports an important cause while doing so.
